Airport Acceleration on the Planes

We provide these photos for photographers because seeing is believing. When you read product dimensions, it is difficult to know how accurate they are with all of the straps, etc. and if it will fit. During the product testing process, we also test the products and take pictures to share.

Airport Acceleration fits in the overhead of planes with room to spare.

With the exception of small “commuter” planes like a CRJ, this backpack will fit in all overheads either straight in or sideways. If you do fly on very small planes, please read about our smaller Airport Antidote backpack. Although the backpack will fit under the seat, it is most important to board the plane as soon as possible!

Airport Acceleration also fits in sideways.

The overhead compartments of some planes force all luggage, wheels or not, to be put in sideways. This photo shows the Airport Acceleration sideways. The important thing to note is that whether it goes straight in or sideways, it fits easily since it meets all international carry on sizes. Depending on the plane, you may need to remove the laptop case and put it under the seat.

Airport Acceleration on a large international flight.

On large planes the backpack fits very easily in the overhead. IN fact, it can be put straight in and sideways if necessary. It is important to note that most international flights board the back of the plane first. This means if you want to be the first on the plane, to insure there is room in the overhead, then choose a seat in the last 15 rows. Check with the airline to find out how the plane boards.

Airport Acceleration fits under most seats.

The backpack will fit under most seats. Clearance on most airlines under the seat is 8.5” – 10.5”. For some reason if the overhead compartments are full, it’s good to know it will go under the seat. Some seats on the plane have electronic “boxes” under the seat that may prevent any type of luggage from fitting under the seat. Usually these “boxes” are located under the seats just behind the bulk head or just in front of a wall. If you fly an airline on a regular basis, it is wise to observe which seats have the boxes underneath.

The Artificial Intelligence 15 (included) under the seat.

The laptop case fits easily under the seat, providing for plenty of leg room. When you get to your seat, easily pull the laptop case out of the front stretch pocket before you put it in the overhead compartment. This way you can either work on your laptop or access other critical papers and books that you may have. Immediately after take off, lean the bag up against your seat, under your calves, horizontally to fully stretch your legs out.

The backpack will fit into all “boxes” with the laptop case removed.

The test frames/ boxes that they have at airports are very inconsistently used, if at all. Many photographers have never, ever been asked to put their bag into such a box, while others have. It’s good to know it will easily fit in without the laptop case. With size and weight requirements becoming more enforced, boxes like this one that check both the size and weight at the same time may become more common.

The backpack can be easily inspected.

When going through security, if they require your bag to be inspected, it is very important that your gear is clearly visible and can be inspected with ease to get through as fast as possible. The Airport Acceleration backpack allows everything to be seen by opening the main compartment. Compare that to a backpack that requires all sorts of pockets to be emptied and laid on the table to be inspected. Not only does it take time, it’s frustrating for you and the inspector.

The backpack works in tandem with the Airport Check In briefcase.

This is a great combination. All of your photo equipment can be in the backpack, and you can weigh it to make sure it is the proper carry on weight. The briefcase can be filled with your laptop, cords, cables, batteries, and all the other stuff that is required. This balances the weight between two carry on pieces of luggage. It is also very professional looking, and does not look like traditional camera bags or backpacks, which is clearly an advantage.
