The Retrospective 50 Has sufficient height to accommodate a 70-200 attached to a pro DSLR bodies in a vertical configuration.

The Retrospective 50 features a dedicated slot for most 15" laptops

1c As your assignment needs change, so can your bag. Modular Components can be added to the webbing loops on the sides of the bag to increase capacity.
A The exterior of each Retrospective shoulder bag is purposefully simple, allowing photographers to inconspicuously blend into their shooting environment.
a All the shoulder bags in the Retrospective series are available in three colors: Blue Slate in a cotton canvas, Pinestone in a cotton canvas and Black which has a polyspun nylon exterior.

Within the Retrospective series main compartment, are two collapsible nylon pockets (one on each side).  These pockets are tall enough to fit most flash units or other accessories.  A hook-and-loop strap can be used to secure the contents or it can be tucked into the pocket for quicker access.

The Retrospective series all have an organizer pocket inside the main compartment.  It gives photographers enough space for small, but significant, accessories necessary for a successful shoot.

a The "sound silencers" underneath the main flap are used to suppress the loud tearing sound hook-and-loop makes while opening and closing the bag.  Simply release the sound silencer panels and cover the hook-and-loop strips to prevent the hook-and-loop from contacting.  A clear business card pocket, for identification and spare cards, is also located under the main flap.
A Hook-and-loop panels securely fastens the main flap down, keeping valuable photo equipment hidden from view.

A wide storage pocket is located on the back of the Retrospective series.  This pocket can be used to carry magazines, newspapers, or other paperwork, depending on the size of the bag.

Webbing loops on both sides of the Retrospective series can be used to carry some smaller pouches on the bag.  Alternatively, a carabiner (not included) can be used to quickly clip accessories to the the sides of the bag as well.

a A fully adjustable, canvas strap is integrated into each Retrospective bag.  For extra comfort, a breathable cushioned pad slides along the strap for optimum positioning.  Sections of non-slip material on the pad helps keep the entire strap on your shoulder.

The Retrospective series each have a removable carrying handle for convenience.

The seam-sealed rain cover included with the Retrospective series was specially designed to keep the carrying handle and integrated shoulder strap outside the rain cover without compromising protection from the elements. Please view this instructional video for more information.

How To - Retrospective Rain Cover

Overall Product Rating:

Just got this for Christmas (21012). Wow I am amazed at the brilliant quality. However, I really didn't expect the bag to be SSOO big. My own fault for not checking dimensions but must admit I have a bit of buyers remorse due to its size :(

I started with the Retrospective 30 and quickly outgrew it. I Loved the quality and workmanship so moving up to the 50 when it became available was a no brainer. I now have the 30 setup for my son who acts a second shooter for me at times, and I live out of the 50. Well Done Think Tank!

Warning this is a long review but might be worth a read. On the surface this is a great bag, looks cool, loads of features and holds lots of gear, but, if youre making rapid lens changes this is not the bag for you. I bought it recently and had a good play with it before buying and thought, yeah this is what I've been after for years. If youre walking round a city or travelling and want to hide your pro DSLR whip it out for a shot, or set up a shoot with no pressure, then it will be great go buy it! Previously I used a belt and lens case system for swopping lenses at weddings and bought this bag as I thought I'd be able to carry a few more lenses in less bulk and still make the quick changes. I wanted to be able to carry easily for weddings either D4, 24-70 70-200 & 50, 2 x SB-900/910 or D4 35, 50, 85, 2 x SB-900/910 If you need to be able to grab and attach a lens in seconds this is not for you! For Example, I wanted to change from a 24-70 to a 70-200 yesterday at a wedding with the bag slung over my shoulder, and the lens hood (which will only fit reversed unless it sticks out of the top) got stuck on a random bit of fabric in the corners due to the overall shape crumpling and some strange piece of material in the corners of the bag. Then putting 24-70 back in the bag the hood got stuck again. The bag could be significantly improved byseveral things. Firstly adding a thick layer of foam on the bottom to protect the glass (its rather thin) would be appropriate. Additionally and this is where it goes wrong for me, The back of the bag (where the laptop would be) is reinforced. But the rest of the bag is not. Therefore, it tends to sag forward in the middle and crumples inward (especially when the weight is on either one of the straps). meaning the size of the holes to put your lenses in is diminished. Having that rectangular shape of the bag supported would mean the crumpled areas would not catch on lenses when trying to remove them as, quite simply, they wouldn't crumple up! Additionally, the short carrying handle is for some reason is located to one side of the bag. But all the weight from your gear is at the other side meaning it doesnt balance properly when being held. Sure, it would be easier in this position to pull the closing flap either under or over it but surely the safety of £12000+ of gear in one bag is a bit more important. On a positive note the grip on the shoulder strap really is good and doesnt want to slide off when on one shoulder. Overall, its a good bag for the right user, but for my needs I'm afraid not. I was sold on its cool looks, 3 lens, body combo, flash pocket, laptop idea, but in the end functionality is more important and sadly it falls way short for a working photographer with pro gear. It needs a little more refinement to be truly worth 5 stars especially at its price tag. Even though theres a lot of good material and stitching in there sadly there is way too little padding and structural support which really lets the bag fall short of my expectations. Needless to say, I'm back using the belt and lens cases I had previously and this will either end up on eBay or become a walk around laptop bag where I can take a camera out with me if I want, which is a massive shame and to be honest, a disappointment.
