Feature #1 Perfectly suited for standard DSLRs with a pocket for an iPad/11” MacBook Air
1a The exterior of each Retrospective shoulder bag is purposefully simple, allowing photographers to inconspicuously blend into their shooting environment.
70 - 200 The Retrospective 7 has the interior height to accommodate a 70 - 200 f/2.8. Shown left to right is a Nikon 70 - 200 f/2.8 VRII, Nikon D7000 attached to a 24 - 70 f/2.8 and a Nikon SB-900 speedlight.

The softness and flexibility of the Retrospective series easily allows a pro size DSLR to be carried in the main compartment with a lens attached, facing downward. The Retrospective 7 is pictured here, containing (left to right): a Canon 28 - 135, Canon 5D attached to a 100 mm macro, 580EXII flash.

Mod Compat The Retrospective bags allow you to attach some of our Modular and Skin gear pouches to increase the capacity of the bag (Sold Separately). Shown is the Retrospective 7 in Slate Blue with a Skin Strobe V2.0 attached. Inside of the Skin Strobe V2.0 is a Nikon SB-900.
Feature #3

A fully adjustable, canvas strap is integrated into each Retrospective bag.  For extra comfort, a breathable cushioned pad slides along the strap for optimum positioning.  Sections of non-slip material on the pad helps keep the entire strap on your shoulder.

Feature #4

The Retrospective series each have a removable carrying handle for convenience.

Feature #5

The seam-sealed rain cover was specially designed to keep the carrying handle and integrated shoulder strap outside the rain cover without compromising protection from the elements.

1b All the shoulder bags in the Retrospective series are available in three colors, Pinestone, Slate blue or black.
Feature #2

The "sound silencers" underneath the main flap are used to suppress the loud tearing sound hook-and-loop makes while opening and closing the bag.  Simply release the sound silencer panels and cover the hook-and-loop strips to prevent the hook-and-loop from contacting.  A clear business card pocket, for identification and spare cards, is also located under the main flap.

1e

The Retrospective series bags all have a zippered organizer pocket inside the main compartment. It gives photographers enough space for small, but significant, accessories necessary for a successful shoot.

1d

Within the Retrospective's main compartment, are two collapsible nylon pockets (one on each side). These pockets are tall enough to fit most flash units or other accessories. A hook-and-loop strap can be used to secure the contents or it can be tucked into the pocket for quicker access.

second interior pocket A second interior pocket holds pens, maps, additional business cards and has a convenient hook and loop closure.
hook and loop Hook-and-loop panels securely fastens the main flap down, keeping valuable photo equipment hidden from view.

Overall Product Rating:

It's complete. I now have all four of the Think Tank Retrospective bags. The 7 and 10 hold more or less the same amount of stuff. Although at first glance the 7 might appear to be a little smaller, because of the layout of the bag it actually has more usable space. It's a little narrower and a little longer, so it's more messenger bag like compared to the Retro 10, which I find a little more square. I think there are two advantages to this layout; 1) the bag "wraps" around your my hip better - my Retro 10 bag tends to bang off my hip - so the 7 is more comfortable, and 2) Although both bags hold more or less the same amount, it's easier for me to get stuff in and out of the 7 because things aren't jammed in quite as tightly. Of course the 7's big selling point is the pocket for an iPad or MacBook Air (11" model) on the back of the bag. I don't own an iPad and my MBA is the 13" model (which doesn't fit) but I find the pocket incredibly useful for notebooks, paperback books and misc stuff. The only downside to this bag, and all of the Retrospective bags, is that they're not the most secure bags on the street. Some kind of clasp closure would be a welcome addition. I've found a small luggage repair shop near my house that sews a strap and plastic buckle on my bags and viola! Problem solved. I give this bag 5 out of 5 stars. I'm keeping it and selling my Retrospective 10. www.jackkurtzphotography.com

its is a great bag for me almost perfect for my travel trips. D90 with 12-24, 70-200, sb700, polarizer,nd10,cross screen filters, hood loupe, blower, remote cable, etc. My macbook air 11" and even my iPad in front of expandable pocket. Attaching Stuff if and R u thirsty modular on both side for nikon p7100, extra batteries and water bottle. One think I could suggest is that one side of shoulder strap should be detachable like the urban disguise using metal hook that it could easily detach from your body specially when your using backpacks at the same time. So that you only have detach the hook and slide out the strap without removing the backpacks. Also I can easily hook and lock my retrospective in the arm chair, etc when your in the public places. Lastly, the front flap closure should have an extra buckle like in the urban disguise that can also be hidden. So that you have the optional to use between this two features, because sometimes hook and loop is annoying to use. So far very nice bag. Thanks

This is my second Retrospective bag. I really love it for the iPad storage and it will easily fit my 7D with grip and a 70-300mm attached, plus a little point and shoot unit as well. My only complaint is that the strap is a little to thin. I really wish it had the 30 series strap as that would easily relieve the extra strain that the thinner strap exerts. Overall a great bag!

The Retrospective series are great bags for discrete street photography when you want to look incognito or Euro without screaming tourist. I currently own a Retrospective 5 and a Retrospective 7, both in Pinestone for a Leica R5 and a NEX 7. I would love to test a “2” when they design it for even more blending into the urban environment.

This is my second review and I really love this bag. I've been using this for a while. This bag actually accommodate standard DSLR w/ 70-200 f/2.8 attach putting it horizontally. With my nikon 12-24 f/4, 50 f/1.8, teleconverter 1.4x, sb700, filters, etc. I'm also using cable management 20 for most of my accessories and put it the expandable front pocket.

Good bag and matching with my activity day by day. I like it.
