“Modular” - Pick and choose exactly what you need.
The essence of a modular system is the ability to choose exactly what you need for a particular shoot–and no more. Because each piece of equipment (e.g. lens, flash, etc.) is already in it’s own bag, you just need to choose which equipment/ bag is appropriate for your current photographic challenge. You don’t need to take everything.
Speed and Accessibility
Our Modulus components are designed to help you get your gear out as quickly as possible, since a spilt second can mean the difference between an average picture and a great one. As an example, our lens cases feature a bungee cord closure, which means that your lens can easily be removed or dropped back in.
Flexible -- Easy to switch components
Our components can be easily attached and reattached, which really is the hallmark of a “modular” system. They attach securely with hook and loop flaps that wrap around the bag. We use very high quality hook and loop to insure that they will be secure on the belt.
“Rotate or Lock”
Unique to our modular system, the Modulus components can either slide (“Rotate”) along the belt, or they can be “Locked” in one position. The ability to rotate the bags along the belt is a huge advantage, because you can arrange them just how you need them at any one particular moment in your shoot.
Comfort
There are two factors that contribute to the comfort of our Modular system. The first is the construction of the Pro Speed Belt, which features foam wrapping completely around the belt edges. (In addition, the Modulus components attach with a foam flap). The second factor deals with body fatigue caused by the weight of a bag: with our Modular system the bag can simply be rotated to another area, alleviating pain and providing for immediate comfort.
Shoulder and Back Health
A huge issue among working photographers is the health of their shoulders and back. Modular belt systems allow you to carry only what you need, which means that you can carry less weight, eliminating stress caused by shoulder bags. The ability to “rotate” or slide the bags along the belt prevents fatigue by allowing you shift weight to another part of your body when needed. If one area of the belt becomes uncomfortable, simply slide the bag along the belt, shifting the weight to another area that can support it without pain.
Kneeling Down
For bags and belt packs worn on the front of the bag, when kneeling down they tend to be bulky and can become a nuisance. Our modular system allows you to prevent this problem by sliding the bags along the belt until they are out of the way. For example, when standing, you may want our Lens Changer 75 for your 80-200 positioned directly in front of you. But when you kneel down, you can slide it up the belt to the side of your body.
Seam-sealed Raincovers
Unlike any other manufacturer of modular components, all of our bags come with removable, seam–sealed raincovers. Other manufacturers have raincovers, but they are not seam-sealed, which means they will leak wherever there is a stitch line. Also, other manufacturers permanently sew the raincovers into the bag, which means they cannot be removed if you don’t need them or, if they get damaged, they cannot be repaired. Our raincovers are easily removed and replaced.
Beat the Heat!
If you are working in an environment that is hot or humid, it can be a huge advantage not being forced to wear a backpack, vest, or large belt. Our Pro Speed Belts are 2.5” high and completely wrapped in foam for comfort. Because there is less area covering your body, you stay cooler.
Reduce Bulk!
After removing your SLR body and one lens out of a traditional shoulder bag, lots of “empty space” remains that you have to lug around. Since you only need to take what you need with our modular system, the total amount of “bulk” is significantly reduced. Our Modulus components are lightly padded to reduce bulk, with just the right amount of foam for protection.
Crowd Control
Navigating crowds and not hitting others with your bags or equipment is always an issue. Since our bags rotate along the belt, you can move them to the front and back, leaving the sides of your body free of any protruding bags. This helps tremendously when you’re trying to walk quickly through a crowd of people.
Go Really Light!
There are times when you simply don’t need much – an SLR with lens attached and one extra lens. This is the beauty of modular, now you only need our Pro Speed Belt and one lens case, reducing your bulk to an absolute minimum. Or, better yet, just attach the bag to your regular pants belt – take only what you need!
“Working” solution vs. Transportation and Storage
There is a distinct difference between your “working” carrying solution (what bags you use when you are actually shooting) and what bags you use to transport and store your gear. You can use a backpack or shoulder bag to effectively transport your gear. However, in many circumstances it makes sense to have a “working” solution, like a modular system. Because you carry your SLRs on one or both shoulders and your remaining lenses and other accessories on your belt, the amount of bulk that you’re carrying is dramatically reduced. You are no longer lugging an unnecessary backpack or shoulder bag.
Stability
Unlike other manufacturers, our foam flaps that wrap around the belt to secure our modular components do not have a uniform width. They change in size depending on the width of the bag. This results in a bag that is more stable on the belt and does not rock from side to side when worn.
Get Support – Use our Pixel Racing Harness
There are a number of photographers that prefer wearing a harness to distribute weight between their shoulders and hips. Our compact, lightweight harness allows you the option of shifting weight from your shoulders to your hips.
Specifically Designed for Digital SLR
Unlike most bags on the market, our bags are specifically designed for digital SLR systems, which means your gear actually fits correctly. A great example is our Lightning Fast bag, which is designed to hold a full-size SLR flash with a plastic diffuser attached. Or our Lens Changer 50, which is designed to hold a wide-angle lens with the lens hood in position ready to shoot!
