Daniel Berehulak is an Australian freelance photojournalist based in Mexico City.

Daniel is a regular contributor to The New York Times, photographing history-shaping events including the Iraq and Afghan wars, the trial of Saddam Hussein, the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, the catastrophic 2015 earthquake in Nepal, government impunity in Mexico, and most recently the war on drugs in the Philippines. His work focuses on those affected by the most drastic events in our world.

In 2015, he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in feature photography for his coverage of the Ebola outbreak for The New York Times. In 2011, he was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for his coverage of the 2010 floods in Pakistan.

His photography has earned six World Press Photo awards and he has twice been named Photographer of the Year from Pictures of the Year International (2014 and 2015). Most recently he was named Photojournalist of the Year for large-circulation publications in the National Press Photographers Association’s Best of Photojournalism 2016 contest.
