When you started out in the field you’re in, how did you get your first “break” / was there a defining moment you just knew “This is what I want to do!”

"Yes! I had a few defining moments. First one was in college when I put my first print in the developer and started seeing an image appear. I thought this was magical. The next one came in 2002, Salt Lake Winter Olympic Games. I was photographing the backstage of the opening ceremony. During the sound check I got to listen to Sting and Yo Yo Ma in an empty stadium while taking photos. I was completely star struck! I realized what a magical thing a camera is and how it is also an access to many different worlds"

When people like me ask you that question “What’s your favourite photograph you’ve ever taken” which one do you think of first?

This is a hard question. Honestly, none of them.. As soon as I think of one, I am like no.. I can do better.. So I tell myself that my favorite photos are not taken yet. I am constantly in competition with myself to take a better photo, and I don’t really like looking back. I try to think of myself as an athlete, trying to beat her own personal best.

Do you have a photographic inspiration?

I am inspired by top athletes, their discipline, their passion and their sacrifices. Which is why I love documenting their journeys. My wish is to transfer that inspiration to the viewer.
